Alarm

Please set your alarm when you leave your apartment by pressing the blue button on your remote control:
Blue : Activate / deactivate alarm
Green : Open/close the garage doors
Red : Panic

Your apartment is linked to an armed response service. Should you have a situation where you need urgent assistance, the red button on the remote will activate the house alarm which is linked directly to a monitoring centre and a patrol vehicle will be dispatched.

Adaptors

All rooms have two prong adaptors built into the wall. Should you require additional adaptors these are available from your host.

Airline information

For any assistance with regards to checking flight departures and arrivals – dial 086 727 7888, and follow the voice prompt or dial 021 937 1200 for further information at the Cape Town International Airport.

Animals

Regret no pets allowed. Allowances made for guide dogs only.

Banks

The closest Automatic Teller Machine is at the Gordons Bay Spar, alternatively the Somerset Mall have other major banking facilities in the centre. Banking hours are Monday to Friday, 09h00 – 15h30 and Saturday 09h00 – 11h00.

Business Services

For all your printing and faxing requirements, The Postnet shop at the Pick Pay Centre in Gordons Bay, will assist you in this regard.

Bottle Store

Hours of business: Monday to Friday: 08h30 – 19h00 Saturday: 08h30 – 17h00. The nearest Bottle Store is at the Gordons Bay Spar

Beaches

Bikini Beach is the little beach next to the Gordons Bay Yacht Club and has been awarded Blue Flag SA Status. (This award is for excellence in Safety, Amenities, Cleanliness and Environmental standards).

Main Beach Gordons Bay is situated in the heart of the Gordons Bay Village.

The Strand Beaches are known to be some of the best and safest. The main attraction is 5km’s of white, soft sandy beach. Melkbaai Beach (Along Main Beach Strand) is ideal for swimming (lifeguards in demarcated areas), sunbathing and walking. Strand Beach is also popular for Hobie Cat sailing, surfing, kite surfing and windsurfing and Mostert Bay (Along Main Beach Strand) near the municipal swimming pool has shallow rocks that offer many fishing opportunities.

Beach Towels

These are provided for your convenience. You may take these off the premises. Please do not use the white bath towels for this purpose.

Breakfast

Enjoy breakfast ON THE STUNNING PATIOS The Blue Marine APARTMENTS or if you prefer, there are several fabulous coffee shops in very close proximity to The Blue Marine. Ask at reception for information.

Car Hire

Reception will assist should you require car hire arrangements.

Car Wash

The nearest car wash is ±2kms away. Past the Gordons Bay Spar and is located on the left hand side at the BP Garage. Alternatively, there are 3 Car Wash facilities at the Somerset Mall.

Check-in time is at 14h00.

Check-out time is at 10h00.

Chemist and Pharmaceutical Products

The closest chemist is at the local PICK AND PAY CENTRE.

A list of service times for all denominations is available. Please ask your host for your Church service of choice.

Cigars and Cigarettes

Strictly no smoking is permitted in the Guest House. However, an ashtray is provided on the outdoor balcony. Please close the sliding door so as no smoke filters into the room. A service fee of R2 000-00 will be levied to clean soft furnishings should the room smell of smoke.

Cinema

There are eight cinemas at the Somerset Mall and six at the Eikestad Mall in Stellenbosch. Our local papers The Cape Times, The Argus and The District Mail (which is printed every Thursday) will have a list of all shows and times. Please note that new films come onto circuit every Friday.

Courier Services

These services are available from the local Post Office, Beach Road in Gordons Bay, or The Postnet Shop at the Pick ‘n Pay Centre.

DSTV

Bouquet of channels and PVR (personal video recorder) to record programmes. Please consult TV guide in the remote box on the coffee table for more information.

All foreign exchange can be transacted at any of the following institutions: American Express, Master Bank, Imali Foreign Exchange, Rennies Bank and commercial banks at the Somerset Mall.

There is a Virgin Active Gym Club in Somerset West just off the N2 direction Cape Town. This is approximately 10kms from Gordons Bay.

situated in Kleinmond direction Hermanus, one can take the scenic route from Gordons Bay on Clarence Drive or alternatively a quicker route on the N2 highway.

The Blue Marine is equipped with hair dryers so there's no need for you to pack one when visiting us.

Housekeeping

for stays of 7 days or more, your apartment is serviced with a change of linen. Fresh change of bath towels are supplied as per check-in.

All guests are provided with their own set of keys to the apartments. Kindly return your key prior to departure.

WI FI has been installed for your convenience.

Laundry

All apartments have a washing machine, clothes rack, ironing board and iron. Please make use of the clothes rack to hang washing.

The Tavern – in the Gordons Bay Harbour (very casual pub like atmosphere) – great vibe.

Harbour Lights – in the Gordons Bay Harbour (smart casual restaurant) this is mainly a seafood restaurant.

Tallas – in Beach Road just before the Post Office (this is an informal restaurant with a mixed menu).

The Spur family steakhouse – opposite the Post Office.

Al Forno Italian Restaurant – (smart/casual restaurant, mixed menu) pavement style cafe

Safety deposit box / Valuables

A digital safety deposit box is located in the wardrobe of your bedroom. Instructions for its use are displayed on the wardrobe door. Should you need to override the code, keys are available from your host.

Kindly place all your valuables into the personal safe provided in your room. The Blue Marine cannot accept responsibility for any missing items.

Television

Please do not adjust your television set as this has already been programmed. A service call out fee will be charged should the channels and PVR be changed.
